Moniepoint has acquired Orda, a cloud-based restaurant management platform, as part of its push to grow in the restaurant and business management space. Under the merger, Orda will be rebranded (change its name and identity) to Moniebook for Restaurants.
Moniebook is Moniepoint's business management platform. Over time, Orda’s features and services will be fully integrated into Moniebook to create a more unified system. But, for now, Orda will continue operating as a standalone product until the full integration is gradually completed in the coming months.
Backed by Visa, Moniepoint doesn’t just want to be a payment processor only; the platform is using the Orda acquisition to dive fully into a full-stack operating system that will be capable of handling business needs—from sales and inventory to payments and financial services—for African businesses.
Founded in 2020 as StarKitchens, Orda is a Nigerian food-tech startup that builds a cloud-based operating system for restaurants across Africa. Notably, the company raised $4.5 million in seed funding in 2022.
The platform already powers restaurant operations for major Nigerian chains, including those under the Eat'N'Go group, which operates Domino's Pizza and Cold Stone Creamery franchises.
Its core idea is to replace manual, paper-based processes with digital tools, allowing restaurants to manage orders, track inventory, handle accounting, accept payments, and integrate with delivery services like Glovo—all from a single dashboard.
Orda currently operates in Nigeria and Kenya, but the acquisition only covers its Nigeria operations. Moniepoint has indicated that it may acquire the Kenya arm in the future, but for now, it is focused on Nigeria.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but a report suggests that about 25 members of Orda’s team have joined Moniepoint. According to global insight company Mordor Intelligence, Nigeria’s food service market is expected to hit $12.37 billion in 2026—one of the key reasons Moniepoint may be acquiring Orda.
In addition, restaurants already represent a meaningful share of transaction volume for Moniepoint. The company says Nigerians spent about ₦8 billion ($5.83 million) daily at restaurants in 2025 using its payment infrastructure.
“Data has shown us that Africa’s restaurant sector is one of the continent’s most dynamic economic engines,” said Tosin Eniolorunda, Moniepoint founder and CEO. “Yet the majority of food businesses still operate with manual processes and fragmented tools.”
Moniepoint is a fast-growing financial technology company that provides digital banking, payments, and business tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa.
Moniebook is Moniepoint’s business management platform designed to go beyond payments. It offers tools that help businesses manage daily operations such as sales tracking, inventory, bookkeeping, and customer data—all in one place.
The goal is to give businesses a simple, integrated system to run and grow their operations without relying on multiple disconnected tools.
The integration of Orda into Moniebook will ignite the full capabilities of the product specifically to serve restaurants. At the same time, it'll reinforce Moniepoint’s vision of becoming a full-stack business management system for Nigerian businesses.
