Online order tracking in Google Wallet

I bet you don't know how to view and track your online orders on Google Wallet until now. It's possible because these features are not enabled by default, you will have to first enable the settings in your Gmail account. When enabled, Google Wallet will go beyond just a place to store your cards and boarding passes, it will now doubles as a delivery tracker.

The digital wallet app will pull your online order details straight from your Gmail, give you the receipts, track the order numbers, and the shipping status in one place instead of scattered across your inbox—so you don't have to sort through countless confirmation emails and shipping alerts just to know where your package is.

Another thing that worth noting is that Google Wallet doesn't have to switch between online retailers where you made the orders and the courier services that delivered the orders. All what it needs is access to your confirmation emails and everything will detailed in your Wallet dashboard. However, it's also important to mention that this feature is limited to users in the US only for now.

Google has not confirmed when it might expand the features to more countries. Here's how to set it up and start tracking your online orders directly from Google Wallet.

That's how to view your online order on the Google Wallet app or via the website. The smart features and personalization settings you turned on in Gmail allows this feature to work in the Google Wallet. To track your orders, let's proceed to the next section to see how it works.

How to track your online order/package in Google Wallet

First of all, it's important to let you know that “package tracking” provides detailed carrier updates only for participating carriers in the US, according to Google support page.

This means the detailed shipment updates (like "out for delivery" or "arrived at facility") only work if the courier handling your package is one that Google has partnered with—and only within the US.

If your package is being shipped by a carrier that isn't part of that program, or you're outside the US, you might see the order listed but without those live tracking updates. Now, let's proceed to how the package tracking works on Google Wallet:

  • To track your orders, open the Google Wallet app, then tap "View more," followed by "View more transactions." At this point, you might be asked to verify it's you.
  • If you're doing on Google Wallet website, all you need to do is just tap “Transactions” on the left of the page and you will arrive to where you will be asked to verify it's you.
  • Find and tap your order. From there, you can tap and hold to copy the tracking or order number. If you tap "Track Package," you'll be redirected straight to the carrier's website for more detailed tracking information. Keep in mind that if your order has multiple shipments, your items and tracking details might show up split across separate entries.

Note: You can also remove order from your Google Wallet account but it does remove it from your Gmail. To remove order, view the order you want to remove and click on the trash icon to remove it from your Wallet.
