How to Generate and Download OPay Account Statement in Nigeria

An official record of money in and money out, and where and when. Here's how to download the OPay account statement.
OPay Bank statement

The Exclusive/Analytical Summary:

  • You can generate an OPay account statement directly from the OPay mobile app without visiting the platform office or any agent/merchant. The company's transition from a basic transaction gateway to a central financial repository has made official statement generation a critical utility for millions of retail and corporate users on the platform.
  • The OPay statements distinctly track dual-balance records, segregating transactions executed via the baseline wallet layer from automated daily micro-investments held inside the OWealth instrument. The fastest route to generate the statement is “App” >> “Me” >> “Transaction History” >> “the three-dot menu” >> “setting a custom range” >> “Download.”
  • The statements are available for custom date ranges and are typically delivered as a PDF or Excel download or via your registered email. You can generate account statements covering up to years of transactions history but if you try to generate very old or high-volume statements, it may take longer time to compile.
  • However, secure extraction protocols mandate a multi-factor authorization process within the OPay to ensure that confidential transaction history conforms to stringent local anti-money laundering and audit guidelines. If your statement doesn't arrive, checking your spam folder, internet connection, and registered email usually resolves the issue.

An account statement is an official record of all transactions that have taken place on your bank account during a selected period. OPay statement is useful for verified proof of income for immigration visas and embassy applications, loan requests, proof of payment, tax documentation, foreign school admission, business accounting, personal budgeting, means of address verification, and transaction disputes. In fact, the formal entities like embassies, digital lenders, and corporate compliance managers usually treat fintech ledgers with the same legal validity as conventional retail bank histories.

However, the OPay statement is one of the few things you can seamlessly get on the OPay app. In this article, I will show you how to generate and download the account statement on your device in Excel or PDF. I will walk you through the step by step guide with image illustration directed by annotations, and I will also provide blueprint that show exactly how the bank statement generating is down. In addition to that, I will also provide a quick tutorial video on this page so that you can see how it does on the app in real-time.

How to Generate an OPay Account Statement

First of all, this is the blueprint guide I promised to provide:

Step 1
Open the OPay app and log in securely.
Step 2
Tap Transaction History to access your account statement page.
Step 3
Select Download at the top of the page.
Step 4
Choose your preferred date range.
Step 5
Tap Email Address and check address if you want your address to show on the statement.
Step 6
Download the PDF and it'll be sent to your registered email.

The whole process can be completed on an Android or iOS device. All you need to do is to ensure your biometric access or password validation is input to complete the request. The timeframe can be month, 2-months, or you can select your custom range by setting the starting date and the ending date.

Setting timeframe for the statement

Next, you will be asked to confirm your email address. If you want to change the current email, you can click on the edit button to do that but you'll be asked to verify your action to complete the email change.

Choosing file, PDF or Excel, for the statement

Next, select your file type. You can download the OPay statement as an Excel file or as PDF. Next, toggle ON the address toggle button to show your address on the bank statement. If you don't want it, you can leave it off.

Downloading the statement

Tap “Continue” and you will receive a message saying “You have successfully requested your OPay statement and it is on it way to your email address. Note, it may take up to 2 hours to arrive.”

Your statement typically includes:

  • Account Name
  • Account Number
  • Transaction Date
  • Transaction Time
  • Sender/Recipient
  • Amount
  • Transaction Reference
  • Opening Balance
  • Closing Balance
  • POS and business transactions history for business accounts.

Troubleshooting

If your statement isn't large, it'll be delivered to your email address instantly upon request. However, if you have waited for 2 hours and the statement has not arrived, just check your update and spam folders. The updates folder is where Gmail normally retain emails from OPAY.

However, if the PDF won't open, just install any standard PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader or Google Drive's built-in PDF viewer. As you can see in the video above, I used WPS to open the account statement.
